저희의 땅은 각각 5에이커(acre), 총 4개의 땅(lot)으로 구성되어 있습니다.
Our land is made of four lots, each five acres.
보시는 것과 같이, 나무들이 아주 많이 있는 숲 속 땅입니다.
As you can see, it is heavily forested area.
처음 저희가 새로운 땅에서 집을 짓기 위해 먼저 해야 했던 일은 우리의 땅이 어디서 어디 까지인지, 그 경계를 알아야 했습니다.
To start building on our land, first thing we had to do is locate the boundaries of the four lots.

하지만 땅에 줄이 그어져 있는 것이 아니기 때문에,
but the land had no visualble boundary lines,
우리 세가족은 경계선을 알기 위해, 골프공 보다 작은, 노란 뚜껑이 달린 쇠말뚝의 표식을 찾아야 했습니다.
we had to find small markers that are metal with a small yellow cube on top.(No bigger than a golf ball)

처음에는 땅지도를 보면서, 3개의 말뚝을 운 좋게 발견하였습니다.
At the beginning, we used the map of the territory, and it be got very lucky.
그러나, 작은 뚜껑에, 오랜시간이 지나 낙엽에 흙에 숨겨져 있어 말뚝을 찾는데 정말 힘들었습니다.
But finding a small yellow cap covered under layers of leaves and soil is not an easy task.
마치 해변 백사장에서 동전을 찾는 듯한 기분이었습니다.
It seem like finding a coin on the beach.
때문에, 우리는 금속 탐지기를 빌려서 찾기로 했습니다.
With that, we rented a metal detector to find the monuments.
눈으로 그냥 찾는 것 보다는 훨씬 빨리 찾을 수 있었지만, 그래도 쉽지 않은 일이었습니다.
It is amazing how much faster than doing manually, but it is very hard still.

그렇지만, 찾는 동안, 우리는 4개의 모든 땅 들에 익숙해 졌었고,
But, along the way, we familiarized ourselves with all the beautiful corners of our land
멋진 기념품도 발견하였습니다.
And found some cool souvenirs.

그리고 어느날,
One day,
우리는 전망이 아름다운 언덕에 있어야 할 말뚝을 찾고 있었습니다.
we were searching for the monuments in the hills. The scenery was so breathtaking,
하지만 분명 말뚝이 있어야 할 곳에 아무리 찾아보아도 우리는 말뚝을 찾을수가 없었습니다.
but no matter what we did, we couldn't find one of the monuments that was supposed to be there.
모두가 지쳐서 포기하고 집으로 돌아 갈려는 순간.
Everybody was tired and ready to give up and go back home.
Mr. Elk의 누나인 'Polar 여우'는 포기하지 않았습니다.
The one that was not ready to give up was Mrs. Polar Fox. (Mr. Elk's sister)
결국엔 'Polar 여우'는 가장 찾기 어려웠던 말뚝을 발견하고, 우리는 그 아름다운 경치의 언덕 이름을 '폴라 포인트'라고
이름 지었습니다.
She was the reason that we found it that day, so the most beautiful point on our land is named after her.

그렇게 하루 이틀이면 되겠지 생각했던 '말뚝 찾기'는
I thought it would take 3~4 days to find all the monuments,
거의 2 주가 넘는 시간에 걸려, 우리는 15개의 말뚝을 찾게 되었습니다.
but it took almost over 2 weeks.
